sad boys
Today I have sad boys.
Professor Calculus (not his real name), Silas, Chicken Whisperer and of course, Huckleberry were all very sad that their Vancouver Canucks didn't go home with the Stanley Cup. But they were more sad, so sad, for the behaviour or the rioters who fought, looted, burned and made fools of themselves in many and varied ways in Vancouver's downtown core.
We watched much of it live. I wanted my boys to see how base regular people can behave when a few idiots whip them up into a mob frenzy. I felt like I was watching some footage out of a war torn country in the Middle East.
Tony Parsons of the post game news, with a composure I cannot fathom of someone watching the destruction live...called it diabolical. Diabolical.
I do hope that Mr. Parsons knew and meant diabolical in its literal fullness. Of the devil. Yes it was.
Tempt the masses with liquor, drugs, idolatry and hatred.
And watch them go. Mostly young men. I am sorry to say, you young men, that I used your bad example for the benefit of my children so that they can understand why we keep our standards high. Why we form and protect them. Why courage, consideration, self control and temperance are aspects of real manhood.
Please pray that these young men should they feel a healthy shame for their behaviour, and a sense of humility, and might see a glimpse of why they need Christ.
