playthings
I am trying to write my blog. Baby Rosebud sits beside me playing Land Before Time with her plaskit dinosaurs. She came up with this great idea for a birthday cake for her Land Before Time guys. She takes an oreo cookie gluten free knock off and puts toothpicks in it that have the little colored frill on the end so that they can look like lit candles. All of the plaskit dinosaurs gather round the beautiful birthday cake, dressed in their party wear, which is ripped up Kleenex taped onto them. Then she takes out the candle-toothpicks and eats the cookie, creme first. She usually offers me one of the licked halves.
But I dislike creme filled cookies of any type. I also dislike brownies and fudge. I like digestive cookies but not the kind with chocolate on one side. I could eat digestive cookies all day long. By themselves or with a slice of sharp cheddar. Or by themselves. mmm. Why are they called digestive cookies?
I digress.
So, the thing is, I stop for a moment and ask Rosebud about the party clothes that her dinosaurs are wearing. In a somewhat exasperated manner, she tells me that they are not party clothes, in fact they are space clothes and the tape on their heads is helmets. Why, I ask, do they need helmets and space clothes. It turns out that they are alien space dinosaurs. They have wings and space suits.
Petri doesn't get Kleenex wings because, of course he already has wings. But he is covered in tape so that he doesn't feel left out.
She sits at the kitchen island sometimes hours in a day while I work in the kitchen, she plays with a tray of flour and plaskit dinosaurs.
All of my children have played with plaskit animals for hours at a time.
If I were asked to make a list of the top three playthings to have for children, it would be these:
Plaskit animals
Well made wooden blocks
Lots of dress up clothes
I have developed strong opinions on dress up clothes.
