funny saints and helpful saints

Saint Philip Neri is a very cool saint. While people are rarely canonized for their coolness and funny-ness, I am pretty sure that Philip Neri was. When you read about him you can hardly believe he's like a 1500's kind of guy. Anyway. While I was looking for a good short biography of the good saint, I came across some lovely prayers imploring his intercession. I was particularly taken with the prayers for each day of the week. I particularly needed the Patience reminder and intercession today.

One of my all time favourite quotes comes from St. Philip Neri, and has gotten me through many a difficult moment.  It is only a part of a quote, but it stands very well alone, and speaks volumes to me and helps me to remember Why.

I pray for the pregnant women in my life daily. My daughter, Rosebud, created a litany for us to pray for all the pregnant women we know, and the ones we don’t know too.
