do something that brings you joy
I think the biggest part of taking care of ourselves is doing things that are joyful. That’s why it is so important to like your family. If you don’t like your family, it’s hard to find joy in the day to day.
So, I recommend liking them. Here’s some ways you could roll that out on the regular.
My family, which, like most of us is my source of greatest joy and greatest sorrow. And by sorrow I mean anger. Usually.
But beyond that, I love flowers. I am, in fact, a florist by trade. But I also love growing flowers.
Here’s some stuff I’ve done:
Doesn’t that just say, JOY? I love dirt and I grow things, too. Another day I’ll share flowers from around my yard.
Words bring me joy. Reading them, writing them, using them, sharing them. I recently started a podcast. So many words! But oh my goodness, I had no idea how much fun it was going to be. If someone had told me, I’d have started so long ago.

Writing has always brought me joy, and I write a lot. You might be saying, uh, ya…not kidding. But you don’t even know what I don’t make public! It’s terrifying. I wonder if my children will read through my reams of paper and documents on my computer when I die. I don’t mind if they don’t, and I feel a little sorry for them if they do. I’ll try and clean things up a bit between now and then.
I’m working on two books. To be submitted somewhere, someday. There’s no hurry, because the joy is in the process.
What brings you joy? What do you wish brought you joy? What COULD bring you joy?
