making things beautiful

One of my life goals.

It doesn’t always turn out beautiful, but seriously, folks. I try. I try to make coffee time beautiful and tables beautiful and moods beautiful and family beautiful and time beautiful. I see the potential to make things beautiful everywhere around me and wish daily that I had the capacity to make it all so.

But I do what I can in my little corner. My mom taught me about beautiful. Parsley on the side of your plate. A tablecloth. Lace edging. Ornaments on the windowsill. Reminders of the precious things in life…our people. They are tender, extraordinary, wonderful. They are ours. Ours to care for and ours to treasure.

There are so many ways to show love. In beauty and empathy and words of praise. Oh, how cliché - but NIKE nails it…

JUST DO IT

It doesn’t have to be weighed and measured, filtered or restrained. Hug the people, put parsley on their plates, listen to their whining. It is all the same thing. I always miss my mom, but especially this year, wishing she could help me share the beauty that is just another angle on love. As she taught me about being a mom, I wish she were here to teach me about being a grandmother.

Thanks for all the beauty-lessons mom. I miss you every day.
