why I am catholic, chapter the first, cont'd

That took longer than I thought.

So, truly ignorant of what it meant to be Catholic, and, I should probably mention, not really minding all that much that I was ignorant, we went along.  Sparky married me, and mammals that we are, we started to reproduce.

Even before my Ignorant Catholic life began, long before I became an Informed Catholic I had an idea.  It was radical, I know.  My idea was that reproduction was a good thing.  That fertility was actually not a sign of ignorance or disease.  I had this idea that fertility was Normal.  Babies were good.

It was nothing like we entered into marriage with Christian Scruples saying things like,"We don't use contraception.  Contraception is an abomination.  We will be Open to Life."

It was much more shallow than that.  "Sparky, I love babies, can we have lots of babies?"

"Why, yes.  I think that is a very good idea indeed."

I'm paraphrasing of course.
