laundry tips
Why start with the laundry? Because the sun rises and sets on it. I'm a big proponent of "centralized laundry" and if you type "laundry" into the search bar, you'll get your fill of ideas. But this post is about little things you can do to simplify your life.
Try this today.
Empty one of your own dresser drawers. Only put back in it what you actually wear. Or use.
Put all that didn't go back in your drawer in a bag or box for donation, or if it's ratty, throw it away. If this is hard for you, remember that someone else probably needs it more than you if you don't wear it. Some lucky person will appreciate it.
If that was easy and only took two minutes of your time, do another drawer.
If it was oppressive, just do one drawer. Do another tomorrow.
Here's the kicker. Take the bag of donation stuff and put it in your car trunk. The next time you drive by a thrift store, drop it off. If you leave it sitting around your house, it'll will probably never make it to the thrift store.
Keep a tall laundry basket or garbage can (with a lid if you have small children in your house who like to undo your work...) in the laundry room (you can line it with a garbage bag) and toss all your donation stuff in it. As soon as it's full, you can tie it off and put it in the car. Often we are going through drawers or cupboards, and we think to ourselves, "I should donate that!" But if we don't have a place for it, it'll just continue taking up space in our home and our brain.
